Beacon of ICT Distinguished Lecture/Awards Series is widely regarded as the most prestigious annual event available in the ICT industry in Nigeria.
The Distinguished Lecture is aimed at charting the way forward for the country’s ICT sector while the award ceremony reward best practices and recognize outstanding contributions to the growth of the sector.
This year’s Beacon of ICT Distinguished Lecture/Awards Series is slated for Saturday, April 22, 2017 at Eko Hotels and Suites by 6 pm.
“Empowering Youth Through Digital Citizenship”
The theme leans heavily on the fact that Information and Communication Technology has become a vital player in the national development of modern society.
Empowering youths with ICT will help re-channel their energies into creating very honest money making ideas online and strike it rich big time, thereby eliminating poverty and dependence on government.

The Beacon of ICT Distinguished Lecture is designed to explore efforts to put Nigeria on the global information and communications technologies map.
The awards are free and awardees are chosen by readers of Nigeria CommunicationsWeek through a transparent voting process.
At the inaugural edition of the lecture, Dr. Ernest Ndukwe, then executive vice chairman, Nigeria Communications Commission (NCC) delivered the lecture and gazing into the crystal ball, foretold a broadband revolution.
Over the years, Engr. Yomi Bolarinwa, former Director-General of National Broadcasting Commission (NBC); Dr. Jean Luc Fort, CEO at OR System France and a specialist in Counterparty Risk; and Professor Chris Nwagboso, Chairman, Knowledge Factory International, United Kingdom and one of the best brains in integrated transport and automotive systems in world have delivered the keynotes.
Others are: Uche Orji, managing director/chief executive officer, Nigeria Sovereign Investment Authority (NSIA); Biodu Omoniyi, Managing Director/CEO, VDT Communications; and Ayotunde Coker, Managing Director, Rack Centre Limited.
There has never been a dull moment with the event which draws top politicians and government functionaries as well captains in the ICT industry as well financial institutions.

Selection Process for the Awards
Nigeria CommunicationWeek selects awards’ recipients (not Keynote speakers) through a voting process in which business leaders and our readers cast their votes.
The process is confidential and the identities of those people who nominated and voted are not revealed.
Nigeria CommunicationWeek also retains independent Quality experts in business communication, engineers, physicists, mathematicians, economists, sociologists and reporters which analyze public information.
