The DJ plays an unpopular song or one that has never been played before on Cool FM (local songs in most cases); and listeners are meant to call in and give their verdict, saying if the song should be played or stopped.
Here, majority carries the vote. If there are more ‘play it’ than ‘stop it’ verdicts from listeners, the song goes on; otherwise, it is shelved for the day and may never be played again on Cool FM’s airwaves.
‘Mitsubishi Play and Stop’ comes on air every weekday in the morning and plenty of listeners look forward to it since they get to decide what is played or not.
It also gives the DJ an idea of what people love to listen to on radio which would go a long way in ensuring that listeners have a worthwhile radio experience.
The ‘Number Game’ ably anchored by Manny is a whole new one that tests the word power of listeners, putting them to a big challenge.
On air every Saturday, listeners are expected to call in, pick a number and answer the question that comes with that number. However, it is required that one answers three consecutive questions correctly in order to win. And guess what, the prize money is N5, 000!
96.9 Cool Fm is a private radio station, which commenced operation in October 1998, following the acquisition of license from the National Broadcasting Commission (NBC), in October 1997.
