The Kano state Information and CommunicationsTechnology (ICT) Park is one major aspect of economic roadmap that was unveiled by, Alhaji Ibrahim Shekarau, governor, Kano state.
The park is part of the state government which seeks to transform the state into a leading ICT player in the country.
Shekarau, believes that with ICT, Kano state will be not only be a major user of ICTs but also a leader, if not the leader in the production of ICTs in the country.
Alhaji Bashir Musa, special assistant to the governor on education said that this should allow the state to use ICTs to promote good governance, advance knowledge and create wealth and jobs.
Musa said that the ICT Park is expected to bring many businesses to the state such as software development, outsourcing services, data entry and software.
Others are research and development in ICT, research and development of new applications, systems and software, content creation and development: the development of local websites, databases, archival services, translation services, website design and hosting services, including co-location services
The park will also help inmanpower training and development: the production of various categories of ICT professionals, ICT system assembly: the manufacture and assembly of computers and other related equipment as well as fabrication and manufacture of telecommunications equipment such as VSAT.
Telecommunications solutions: network design, routing solutions, etc.
The state is currently working in partnership with some private ICT companies to come and provide excellent telecommunication infrastructure needed at the Park.
