Ogun NCS Unveils Plans for AIT 2017, Seeks Partnership

Ogun State Chapter of Nigeria Computer Society (NCS) in collaboration with the Department of Computer Science, Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta, Ogun State has unveiled plans for second International Conference on Applied Information Technology (AIT 2017).

Applied Information Technology (AIT) International Conference is a leading forum for the academia and practitioner to address, discuss and exchange knowledge on all disciplines of Information Technology (IT).

The conference, Alhaji Abdulfattah Odusanya‎, the chapter chairman, said in a statement on Sunday, will hold at Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta, Ogun State, Nigeria between October 4-6, 2017.

Odusanya said that the conference theme: Exploring Information Technology Innovations For National Development, was carefully selected as technology has become the panacea for stable macroeconomic environment, agricultural transformation and food security, sufficiency in energy (power and petroleum products), improved transportation infrastructure and industrialization focusing on small and medium scale enterprises, among others.

The Chairman, Organising Committee, Prof. Adio Akinwale in his submission said IT must not be lip-serviced, especially with regards to adequate strengthening of the research capabilities of higher institutions, stressing that AIT 2017 provides a key forum for researchers and industry practitioners to exchange information regarding advancements in the state-of-art and practice of applications of information technology for national development.

He said that with enthusiastic industry practitioners and indigenous critical technological competencies, the country shall soon witness a technology revolution.

On his part, Olatunde Tijani, the chapter's secretary who doubles as the Secretary of the organising committee, said the conference, apart from meeting the international standard will not only produce useful scholarly works, it will also offer participants the platform to network and share ideas on the information technology and computing world which is expected to give rise to a new technological innovation that the world will be proud of.

He recalled that the maiden edition of the biennial conference in 2015 was a huge success due to hardwork and wide consultation by the organising committee.

He emphasized that the second edition of the conference will even be better due to the caliber of speakers expected, quality of papers to be presented in various disciplines of information technology and the international standard.

“Therefore, we are looking forward to paper presentations in the areas of Cryptography and information security; intelligent information systems; big data computing; cloud computing; bio-informatics; mobile communications and networking; e-health/e-banking/e-agriculture/e-government/e-commerce; e-learning/education technologies; computer aided designs and control systems; modeling and simulations; statistical computing and geosciences.

“The conference organizers are calling for papers from students, authors, researchers and professionals in the IT field. Instructions for submitting such papers can be found on the conference website http://www.aitconference.org.ng/

“Selected papers will be published in the Journal of Natural Science, Engineering and Technology published by Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta or International Journal of Computer and its Applications published by Nigeria Computer Society.

“Registration for the AIT 2017 conference is strictly online on the conference website”, he said.
