Banks, telcos and other firms whose activities are driven by Information and Communications Technology (ICT) can cut down their costs to the barest by simply implementing Software Quality Assurance (SQA) and Software Testing (ST), Nigeria CommunicationsWeek has gathered.
SQA & ST are procedures often neglected by IT managers of companies, which has culminated in such ugly incidents as attacks, loss of brand and market share.
Nigeria CommunicationsWeek gathered that establishing a Software Quality Assurance practice that involves software testing will drastically reduce the amount of capital and resources that an organization spends on post software deployment problems.
“A defect or bug found and addressed internally while conceptualizing an idea or developing it will cost you N10, 000 versus N1, 000,000 when the same issue is found by your customers,” said Roland Omoresemi, CEO of Tezza Business Solutions.
According to him, there’s what is referred to as the “conformance” and “non-conformance” costs associated with quality. An organization’s conformance costs are those costs associated with setting up a Quality Assurance program while the non-conformance costs are those associated with failed planned activities and the cost for staging the customer support surrounding when customers find issues in implemented systems. “The idea is that your conformance costs are far less than your non-conformance costs.”
Software Quality Assurance is a planned and systematic approach to the evaluation of the quality of and adherence to software product standards, processes, and procedures while Software Testing is a quality control measure for executing software with the intent of finding error; and can further be described as any activity aimed at evaluating an attribute or capability of a software and determining that it meets the required results.
