The Abia State Government has appointed Afribank Nigeria Plc to collect all the revenue due to the state in a bid to effectively enhance its revenue collection drive and accountability.
A statement from the bank said the Abia state government has consequently advised individuals and public institutions in the State to pay taxes and all revenue due to the state at any of the branches of Afribank nationwide.
The choice of Afribank as one of the revenue collection institutions was based on its track record of excellent performance in the collection of taxes, levies, revenues and bills for private and public institutions over the years.
The Bank has effectively deployed its on-line real time capability to offer seamless and instant reconciliation and prompt renditions of payments. This has boosted the revenue drive, transparency and accountability of states and organizations the Bank has worked for.
The bank has continued to initiate strategies to enable it serve as an agent of wealth creation, engine of growth and promoter of national economy. With this appointment, Afribank is able to play an active role in the facilitation of economic development of the state.
The bank assured that it will bring its experience in revenue collections for states to bear. Afribank’s monthly rating has also improved across performance based criteria in the collection of revenue for state governments. Alpha-Beta Consulting has attested to Afribank’s soaring performance in the collections of revenue for Lagos State Government last in November. It was adjudged to have excelled in the areas of volume of collections, compliance, reconciliation, competitiveness, responsiveness among others.
Similarly, stakeholders in the industry have in many fora hailed the superior performance of Afribank’s IT platform especially in revenue collection
