NLC Sends SOS to Aero Contractor over 655 Sacked Workers

Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) has sent save our souls (SOS) message to the management of Aero Contractor airline to recall its 655 workers sacked on March 17.

This is contained in a statement signed by Mr. Emma Ugboja, the Congress’ Acting General Secretary, on Sunday in Lagos.

In the statement, NLC urged the airline to reinstate the workers and reopen their offices immediately to forestall industrial crisis.

The Congress said it would not hesitate to take solidarity action in defence of the workers if the airline management refuses to reverse its decision.

Blood, Tears as 166 Perish in Calabar

No less than 166 Nigerians were feared dead when a boat they were travelling in sank about 40 nautical miles off the coast of Calabar, the Cross River State capital.

Eyewitnesses said that the passengers were travelling in a large wooden boat, which departed from Oron, Akwa Ibom State on Friday and was heading for Gabon when it capsized off Malabo, near the coast of Equatorial Guinea.
