OLX Nigeria has boasted of making giant strides in online car listings for sales in Nigeria with over 50,000 cars currently on the site.
Speaking to Nigeria CommunicationsWeek during the announcement of a partnership between OLX and Mandilas, Mayokun Soremekun, business development manager, OLX Nigeria, said that they are steadily fashioning out ways to offer Nigerians the opportunity to sell used or buy their dream cars.
Under the new partnership, eligible users who post their cars for sale on the OLX site will have opportunity to have their cars screened and evaluated for free.
But, Soremekun told Nigeria CommunicationsWeek will not relent on its oars in providing safe and convenient user experience; though 80% of car listings on the site are coming from Lagos State and environs.
Soremekun said, “We are not yet satisfied; we want as many people as possible to list on OLX. We want OLX to remain the household name that comes to your mind when you want to sell your vehicle.
“Right now, we have about 50,000 vehicles listed on the site. So, if you are looking for a car to buy or a car to sell, OLX is a great place to make it happen. One of these is you can get cars with prices that match your budget. When you are on the site, (or using the app), you can search and filter it based on the cars specifications and location.
“One of the things we are doing to sustain the growth is to ensure trust and safety are not compromised. We want to make sure you are selling your car in a safe environment. We still have our team who go out to verify items for placement on the site”.
She said that the OLX/Mandilas partnership will not stop the team from carrying out the required verifications on car listings.
“We will definitely continue the verification processes, because we want to make sure that our users have first class experience. We have our integrity and image to protect as well and safety is something we prioritise. So, the first step is when people list on out site, we call them and educate them on OLX/Mandilas package and what they stand to benefit. At that point, we will tell Mandilas about the user, who will in-turn, contact them,” the Business Development Manager, OLX Nigeria said.
OLX is rated as Nigeria’s number one online classifieds and had entered into partnership with Mandilas, one of the leading players in the auto industry in a strategic relationship that will offer users on the OLX platform free vehicle valuation and diagnostic services.
The partnership, Nigeria CommunicationsWeek gathered is part of steps to tap into the Nigerian new and used cars sales market worth $6billion (estimation) annually.
In addition, Mandilas will list its vehicles on the OLX platform in an effort to attract buyers from across the country.
“The collaboration with Mandilas”, she added “validates the effectiveness of OLX as a platform with a wide range of vehicles where buyers can find great car deals and trade with trusted sellers”.
At the end of the screening, the user will get an evaluation certificate from Mandilas that will state the current market value of the car as well as the condition of each part of the car.
