Coscharis Motors to Unveil Jaquar XE at Tech+ Conference

Leading elite Automobile distributor, Coscharis Group, has announced plans to unveil the Jaquar XE, a sports saloon model at the forthcoming TECH+ Conference and Exhibitions billed for 24 and 25 July at the Eko Hotels and Suites, Victoria Island.

Abiona Babarinde, general manager, Marketing & Corporate Services, Coscharis Group, made this disclosure recently during an interactive forum on the TECH+ Conference and Exhibitions.

According to him, the launch highlights the importance the company attaches to technological advancement which is what the Conference showcases.

“We operate a business that thrives on innovations. This is why we are the unique market leaders in the elite automobile sector. The Jaquar XE executive compact range is a statement on Technological advancement and TECH+ Conference offers a unique platform to unveil it to the Nigerian public, “he said.

Babarinde also hinted that select guests to TECH+ will have the pleasure of first-hand feel of the Jaquar XE model at the conference.

His words, “We are offering free test drive, but for only interested individuals who register for TECH+ Conference and Exhibitions. We require anyone with interest in this activation to provide us with his or her details, which should include basically name, email, mobile line and address to enable us work out the logistics; we would equally come to TECH+ with our test drive cards for each person to fill before we arrange the drive during or after the conference.”

The Jaquar XE is most advanced, efficient and refined sports saloon car that Jaquar has ever produced.

The first of a new generation of cars to be launched on Jaquar’s state-of-the-art, all new Aluminium Intensive Architecture, the lightweight aluminium construction creates an incredibly strong body, as well helping to deliver power with responsive handling and refinement with beautiful design.

Jaquar XE brings together the latest innovation, technology and design. It is packed with systems that empower the driver and enhance the driving experience.

The Jaquar XE, which production started in April this year, is a four door saloon car, and is the first compact executive Jaguar since the 2009 model year X-Type as well as the first of several Jaguar models to be built using Jaguar’s new modular aluminium architecture.

This platform allows the Jaguar XE to feature either rear-wheel drive or all-wheel drive configurations, and it is the first car in its segment with an aluminium monocoque structure.

The Jaquar XE is powered by the new Jaguar Land Rover 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine range called Ingenium, as well as a Ford-sourced 2.0 litre turbocharged petrol engine  and the Jaguar AJ-V6 3.0-litre supercharged V6 petrol engine used by the F-Type.

The V6 engines features in higher performance variants.

The Ingenium 2.0-litre engine family will come on both petrol and diesel variants and in a range of different power outputs.

The 2.0-litre diesel producing 163 PS (120 kW; 161 hp) plays a part in reducing the overall averaged fuel consumption and carbon emission figures of new Jaguars, being capable of beating the 25 km/L barrier, and producing CO2emissions of 99 g/km.

Meanwhile, all is now set for the take-off of Nigeria’s first-ever all-technology conference. With the theme, ““Leadership in Digital Technology”, TECH+ will feature gaming sessions, exhibitions, the digital school, programming, plenary and break-out sessions as well as panel discussions to be led by high profile speakers drawn from local and global brands.

Some of the notable speakers include Jim McKelvey (co-founder of Square), Wael Fakharany (Google X Middle East and Africa) and Nicolas Martin, CEO, Jumia Africa among others.

Attendees at Tech+ will include technology consumers and businesses, manufacturers of products, service providers across diverse segments of the information and communication technology (ICT) industry and ancillary fields of human endeavor, hardware designers, manufacturers, innovators and policy makers, among others.

Interested exhibitors are urged to take the advantage provided by the TECH+ platform to give maximum exposure and visibility to their brands and to connect with the largest gathering of consumers under one roof.

Glo Urges Workers to Reflect on Furthering National Growth on May Day

Telecommunications services provider, Globacom, has admonished Nigerian workers to reflect on more ways of contributing further to the growth of the country.

In a solidarity message on the occasion of the 2024 International Workers’ Day, the company noted that Nigerian workers were resilient in spite of the challenges they encounter in the course of discharging their duties.

The telecommunications giant further noted that the story of Nigeria cannot be adequately chronicled without acknowledging the immense contributions of workers, both in the public and private sectors.

The day is observed on May 1 yearly in recognition of the contributions of workers all over the world and to advance fairer and more sustainable future by advocating for workers’ rights.

According to Ken Nwogbo, CEO, Communication Week Media Ltd, organisers of the ABoICT Distinguished Lecture/Awards Series, “the choice of Prof. Yakub Aliyu is deliberate because of his exceptional career in Artificial Intelligence (AI)”.

He added that, AI is considered to have the potential to instigate a fourth industrial revolution,1 and is dramatically changing people’s patterns of interaction and economic activities.

“The traditional factors of production and physical capital and labour may no longer promote substantial economic growth. It is generally believed that AI will be one of the most important factors determining future economic growth,” he said.

A professor of microelectronics and a scholar-practitioner in artificial intelligence and deep machine learning for industrial applications and high-speed application processors. His research interests include Multimodal AI models for high-efficiency industrial robot applications and Human AI interactions.

He also has adjunct academic professorships at five African, USA, and UK universities. Holds a BS in Applied Physics Electronics from Karlsruhe and A Bello Universities in Germany and Nigeria, an MBA in International Business Management from the University of London, an MSEE (Master of Engineering, Electronics), and a Ph.D. in Electronics Engineering from the University of Wales.

Prof. Aliyu is the global quality director for Bourns Inc., Riverside, California, USA, an electronics system, and components manufacturer. I oversee quality functions in 21 factories worldwide.

He has also held quality and operational management leadership positions at National Semiconductors, Bell Labs-Lucent Technology, Texas Instrument, Global Foundries, and Roper Technologies USA.

Authored and coauthored over 30 Advanced Technology United States-issued patents in High-Speed Application Processors and Contributed to over 40 international impact Journals, chapters, and conferences; FASI, SMIEEE USA, MIEE UK, M. Inst pf Physics Chartered Phys and C Eng UK.

Past lecturers included Dr. Ernest Ndukwe, then executive vice chairman, Nigeria Communications Commission (NCC); Engr. Yomi Bolarinwa, former Director-General of National Broadcasting Commission (NBC); Dr. Jean Luc Fort, CEO at OR System France and a specialist in Counterparty Risk; and Professor Chris Nwagboso, Chairman, Knowledge Factory International, United Kingdom.

Others are: Uche Orji, managing director/chief executive officer, Nigeria Sovereign Investment Authority (NSIA); Biodu Omoniyi, Managing Director/CEO, VDT Communications; Ayotunde Coker, Managing Director, Rack Centre Limited; Peter Adedayo Arogundade, managing director and chief executive officer, Sidmach Technologies Nigeria Limited; Dr. Adewale Obadare, chief visionary officer, Digital Encode and John Obaro, CEO and founder of Systemspecs; Prof. Isa Pantanmi, minister of Communications and Digital Economy; Dr. Seyi Akindeind, co-founder, Digital Encode; Dr Krishnan Ranganath, Regional Director, Africa Data Centres.
