Olu Akanmu, has resigned his appointment chief marketing officer, Airtel Networks Limited, with the company to pursue other interests-with effect from Wednesday, May 22.
According to Mr. Segun Ogunsanya, managing director & Chief Executive Officer, Airtel, “Akanmu led the marketing function at a crucial time in the life of our organization and brought his over two decades of marketing experience and a rich knowledge of the telecommunications market to bear on his role as our CMO. On behalf of all of us at Airtel, I wish him the very best in his future endeavours”.
The company said a replacement for Olu will be announced shortly.
Olu is a strategic business leader with unusual diversity of experience at very senior levels in consumer goods, manufacturing, health care, telecommunications and financial service industries, enabling a deep wealth of innovative, cross-industry perspectives in solving business problems.
He ran the Retail and Consumer Banking Division of BankPHB as Managing Director/CEO, leading more than 700 people with responsibility for balance sheet and profit targets. Dealt with cross- functional complexities at general management level successfully and consistently delivered solid market performance.
And well rounded cross –cultural experience in sales, channel management, marketing, advertising and general management.
