Chief Alex Akinyele, former minister of Information has paid glowing tribute to the extraordinary determination of Zinox Computers, Nigeria’s pioneer computer brand, to push the society a little further on towards the heights of excellence with its corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives.
He particularly singled out the superb performance of Zinox during the voters’ registration exercise of 2011 and poured encomiums on the company for its patriotism.
Akinyele also one-time minister of Sports and currently, chairman, Nigerian Telecom Awards spoke at Zinox House in Lagos while decorating Zinox Computers as Computer Company of the Year 2012.
He said that award is a mark of honor, acknowledgement and respect and that the company won it purely on merit.
Waxing rhythmical, Akinyele said that the clincher was the depth of Zinox caring spirit when the company donated patrol vans and security gadgets valued at over N100 million to both Lagos and Imo State governments.
Those donations to the security sector, at this point in time, projected Zinox as a responsible and responsive corporate citizen who is more interested in the growth and stability of his operational environment than in his profit margin.
The Nigerian Telecom Awards boss, also pointed at Zinox performance during the registration exercise of 2011 and said that Zinox not only delivered fully ahead of INEC’s lead-time but succeeded in laying the foundation for the 2011 general elections.
By so doing, he said, that Zinox restored credibility and confidence to the indigenous practitioners in the ICT sector.
Commending Zinox for the well considered intervention, Akinyele said that Nigerians must note that no foreign company can make such an investment in another man’s land.
Receiving the Award, Leo Stan Ekeh, chairman of the Zinox Group, praised the Nigerian Telecom Awards for its contributions to the establishment of standards within the industry.
Ekeh said that he was accepting the Award with a deep sense of humility knowing that it would motivate him to greater heights.
