FAAN Assures on Seamless Airport Facilitation During Yuletide

George Uriesi, managing director of FAAN,

Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has assured both local and international air travellers that the Authority has made adequate arrangements to ensure seamless passenger facilitation at all the nation’s airports during the forthcoming Christmas and New Year celebrations.

Most of the airport terminals in the country have already been remodelled, making provision for the expansion and modernisation of terminal facilities such as lounges, conveyor belts, check-in counters, toilets, airline offices and so on, said Yakubu Dati, coordinating general manager, Communications, Aviation Parastatals in a statement made available to Nigeria CommunicationsWeek.

He added that modern security and safety equipment such as x-ray, baggage and 3-D screening machines, CCTV and walk-through metal detectors have been installed at all the airports, aside from the provision of modern fire tenders, ambulances and security patrol vans.

Dati said: “All our relevant staff in the Airport Operations, Aviation Security and Fire Rescue and Safety Departments have also been kept on alert to ensure seamless operations throughout the festive periods.

“The Authority however wishes to encourage air travellers to complement these efforts by making early travel plans during this period”.

He advised the air passengers to book their flights early, to avoid patronising touts and leave home early on the days they intend to travel so that they could conclude their check-in formalities well ahead of scheduled boarding times.

“They should also avoid carry-on banned items to avoid delays during facilitation.” He said.
