FAAN closes Abuja runway for 30 minutes as jet skidded off runway

The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) temporarily closed the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, following a private jet’s skidding off the runway Thursday afternoon.

The temporary closure we learnt only lasted for 30 minutes.

 

FAAN in a statement signed by Mrs. Henrietta Yakubu, General Manager, Corporate Affairs, said the closure is to enable the Authority take safety precautions.

It said the private jet is operated by Nest Oil and the aircraft lost its landing gear in the process.

 

“All hands are on deck to put the situation under control and normalcy would be restored within the hour” the statement said.
