FG Tasks NIMC, MDAs on NIN Dec.31 Deadline

The Federal Government has voiced the need for National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) and collaborating Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) on the National Identification Number (NIN) project to abide by the December 31, 2014 deadline to ensure that all eligible Nigerians are captured.

Anyim Pius Anyim, secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF) emphasised this directive Tuesday in Abuja while declaring open the Stakeholders Workshop on Implementation of the Presidential Directive on the Alignment of Data Capture, identity verification and Authentication Activities in MDAs under the Harmonization and Integration Implementation Committee of the National Identity Management Scheme (NIMS).

Anyim who was represented by Ferdinand Agu, Special Assistant to the President in the Office of the SGF (OSGF), said organizing a flawless system of identity data capture and its management in a distinctive approach has become a national challenge, and must therefore “be addressed properly”.
