Glo Commends Muslims on Successful Completion of Ramadan

Mohammed Jameel, COO, Globacom

Globacom, Nigeria’s National Carrier, has congratulated the millions of Nigerian Muslims who have just rounded off their Ramadan fasting as commanded by the prophet Mohammad (SAW).

The holy month of Ramadan is the ninth month of the Islamic calendar, in which Muslims worldwide fast from sunrise to sunset.

Mr. Mohamed Jameel, Globacom’s group chief operating officer,  encouraged all Muslim faithful to use the opportunity of this year’s celebration to promote peace and friendship with all Nigerians irrespective of tribe or religion.

“Globacom wishes all our Muslim brethren a very happy Eid El Fitri and pray that the Almighty Allah will grant their prayers for peace and progress,” Jameel said.

According to him, Globacom will enrich this year’s Sallah with its new Islamic value added offerings like the Ibadat app, Islamic Digest and IVR services on the Glo network.

These products combine to assist the Muslim faithful in their spiritual devotion all year round; providing prayer alerts, the Qibla compass, reading of the Holy Quran, a virtual Tasbih, live relay of prayers from Mecca, Islamic ring tones and wall papers.

The Ramadan fast began on the 28th of June after the sighting of the moon and ended on the 27th of July 2014 on the Roman calendar.

The day of Eid falls on the first day of Shawwal. The Faithful fast throughout the month of Ramadan and pay their Zakat and Fitra before offering the Eid prayers on that day.
