Glo Subscribers to Enjoy Live Football Updates
Glo Mobile subscribers who are ardent football followers can now receive live updates on the game courtesy of a new service launched by the company.
Called Glosoccer, the new service offers subscribers information on football-related events and highlights such as updates on upcoming matches, fixtures, scores, goal scorers, ranking and match results.
The updates are available on the UEFA Champions League, English Premier League, Primera Liga (Spanish League) and Italian Serie A. Others are Bundesliga (German League), French League and the Dutch League.Nigerian Premier League and African Champions League will be added to the bouquet shortly.
Navdeep Kapur, Globacom’s head of Marketing, said Gloscoccer was introduced to keep football enthusiasts abreast of football matters anywhere they are. The service is offered through two platforms – Short Messaging Service (SMS) and data/web-based service.
To enjoy the SMS-based service, he stated, a subscriber is required to send an SMS to a short code, 5836 and he will be sent updates on the league of his choice. For the data/Web-based version, the subscriber is required to send an SMS to a short code, 757. He will thereafter receive the URL/link which will enable him to download the application on his phone after which he begins to use the Glosoccer application to get updates on his phone.
“For instance, a follower of the English Premier League is required to send “EPL” to 5836,” Kapur explained, adding that the subscriber is charged N50 per league for one week. For the data subscription, he said, the subscriber sends “Glosoccer” to 757 and receives an SMS on his/her mobile with the following link: http://glo.soccerazzi.in, which provides him the application for a single day trial. A data charge of 15kobo per kilo bite will apply as he downloads and uses the application. After the one day free trial, the subscriber is required to send an SMS ‘GLOSOCCER LIVE’ to 675 to subscribe for the service. He is then charged N100 per league for one week.
The Keywords for subscription to the other leagues are “UCL” for UEFA Champions League, “ESP” for Spanish League, “ISA” for Italian Serie A, “GER” for German League, “NED” for Dutch League and “FRA” for French League.
“With Glo Soccer, you cannot miss out on any update on football matters. This is another first from Glo. It is the only network that offers the service either as an application on the phone or SMS notification. Similar service in the market can only be accessed on SMS and not as an application on the phone. The similar service is also for one league or club while Glosoccer offering covers all major football matches and leagues in the world,” Kapur affirmed.
