The first edition of an international certification training on cybersecurity is scheduled to hold in Lagos from 4th to 7th May 2015.
In a statement issued by Anthony Nwosu, an ICT expert and managing consultant, Astongate Consult, the training will be delivered by Net-Security Training (UK), an ISO 9001 and ISO 27001 certified organisation and established leader of IT Security, Information Risk Management, Compliance and Governance Training, and Consulting.
The training covers the full syllabus of ISACA’s newly introduced Cybersecurity Fundamentals Certificate examination.
According to Nwosu, Astongate Consult, an indigenous training and consulting company, went into strategic partnership with Net-Security Training (UK) to organise the training here in Nigeria because of the escalating dimension of cybersecuirty threats and attacks on public and private information infrastructures worldwide.
He stated that the global cost of cybercrimes is estimated at over $100 billion p.a., while Nigerian banks were reported to have lost about N159 billion to cybercrimes between 2000 and 2013.
With continuing rise of cybersecurity threats, he said, ISACA’s Cybersecurity Fundamentals course offers a unique opportunity for organisations to quickly train and develop employees with the requisite skills and knowledge to effectively defend their critical information assets against cyber threats and attacks.
According to him, cybersecurity skills are in high demand, as threats continue to plague enterprises around the world.
The training, Nwosu said, offers a great cost-effective opportunity for participants to build new competences on cybersecurity without bearing the heavy burden of travelling overseas for similar training.
