iPolice Mobile, an urgent security information sharing application, has gone live with just few days to the 2015 general elections.
Complustech Nigeria told NigeriaCommunicationsWeek that the improved “iPolice Mobile” available on www.ipolice.com.ng or @ipolicemobile was released to the Nigerian electorates, the monitoring team and the military/para-military agencies for a safe electioneering conduct and reporting.
Ihesie Peter, chief technology officer at Complustech Nigeria, said, “We are making the app available to serve the society. Some people would prefer to have security report around their area or somewhere they need to visit, even before stepping out of their home. The app will be critical at this moment of elections.
He said the mega-sized and valuable content solution has been overhauled for application in the national exercise to promote safety in the coming general elections.
“So, we are in talks with the Nigeria Police Force (NPF, Director of State Security (DSS), security consultants, among others, for community generated security reports and tips on how to handle certain situations”.
He added that private security agents with tips or valuable information to share with the people can leverage the platform to reach the subscribers.
“So, those who subscribed for such information will get either by email or SMS. So, it is an urgent information sharing platform,” he added.
On Community Generated Security Information, Bumi Idoko, the team’s customer support officer, said that “there are situations where Security Agencies might not be present, individuals could generate such reports and file to them”.
She however said though such reports might not be verifiable, Complustech Nigeria included props to distinguish the reports from others generated from verifiable sources.
Also speaking, Christian Uzor, the head of technology, added that iPolice makes it possible to follow and analyze security and crime trends according to federal state and given location.
