Capitoline LLP, a data centre engineering consultancy from the UK, and local partner KITS Technologies, based in Lagos, have commenced the roll out of industry leading data centre expert, DCE® certification qualification in Nigeria.
The DCE®programme was the world’s first Data Centre facilities engineering training which started in 2005.
It has been presented in over twenty countries to over 1000 companies. With authorized design accreditation from uptime institute.
The training is a recognized technical professional qualification in both the US and Europe by BICSI and Chartered Building Services Engineers.
The five-day Data Centre Expert programme looks at both the technical design requirements for a Data Centre and then the operational management aspects required for the successful management of an existing or planned Data Centre.
In a statement by Capitoline founding partner, Barry Elliott, who said on Tuesday at the commencement of Q1 2013 training session, “DCE® is based on international standards such as TIA 942 and ISO 27000 and offers a completely manufacturer independent view of the industry and its technical requirements.
It focuses particularly on the design of successful power and cooling and other facilities of Data Centres. We are pleased to introduce the DCE® programme to Nigeria after successful rollouts in two other African countries and across the Middle East.”
Taofeek Okoya, director, Business and Strategy, KITS Technologies, said that KITS and Capitoline commenced the DCE® training course in Nigeria in 2012 with more sessions already planned for 2013.
He further said the Data Centre Market is growing and the need for professionals to manage the Data Centre investment proficiently cannot be over-emphasized.
The DCE® training programme runs concurrently with Capitoline’s Data Centre Audit programme, whereby Data Centres can be accredited to an international standard.
