The Nigerian Copyright Commission (NCC) has carried out an anti broadcast enforcement raid in Warri, Delta state, with the seizure of several broadcast contrivances worth Thirty Million Naira (N30, 000,000).
This was disclosed by the Director Enforcement, Mr. Augustine Amodu, in a report at the Commission’s Headquarters in Abuja.
He stated that several Decoders, Smart Cards, Splitters, Remote Controls, Extension wires, Cable Wires, and boosters were confiscated during the enforcement carried out on June 22, 2018
The anti-piracy operation coded “Tiger Claw” was carried out at Udumurthue Road, off PTI Road, Alegbor Road, Odion Road off Dawodu,
Okere Market Road, Welfare Road off Lower Erejuwa, Odibo Street, Giwa-Amu Street and Roberts Road off Okere area all in Warri.
The raid carried out after strategic planning and surveillance was executed by Operatives of the Commission and Multichoice officials backed up by armed Mobile Policemen.
According to the NCC Zonal Manager, Benin Office, Mr. Joseph Ajang, the suspects are still at large but further investigations and compilation of case files are ongoing.
The Commission remains resolute in its fight against piracy of Copyright protected works in any part of the country.
