NiRA Inaugurates BoT for Ndukwe-Kalu Foundation
The Nigeria Internet Registration Association (NiRA) has inaugurated the Board of Trustees (BoT) for the Ndukwe Kalu. The inauguration was held at NIRA’s new Office Complex, 8, Funsho Williams Avenue, Iponri Suru-Lere, Lagos state, Nigeria.
The late Ndukwe Kalu was the pioneer NiRA President, who passed on in active service in September 2009. At the time of his burial, NiRA had promised the family that the name of the pioneer President, Ndukwe Kalu, would be immortalized.
This promise was finally fulfilled by inaugurating the Ndukwe-Kalu Foundation on Wednesday, the 28th of January 2015.
The aims of the Foundation, according to Mrs. Mary Nma Uduma, NiRA’s president are, to promote knowledge in ICT among the citizenry, especially the youths; encourage the proper use of the Internet and discourage the negative trend of cyber-crime and related vices.
The inauguration of the Ndukwe Kalu Foundation had in attendance NiRA Board of Trustees (BoT), NiRA Executive Board of Directors (EBOD), members of the Ndukwe Kalu Foundation Board of Trustees (BoT), as well as DR. (Mrs.) Nnenna Ndukwe-Kalu the wife of the Late Ndukwe Kalu, amongst others.
Mr. Chima Onyekwere, chairman, NiRA BoT, and many others present made notable comments about the late Ndukwe Kalu; his passion for work and the Internet world. In summery it was agreed that he contributed immensely to laying the foundation for NiRA and the eventual growth of the Association.
“After the inauguration of the Ndukwe Kalu Foundation, the NiRA BOT met. This meeting presented an opportunity for me, to officially report to our elders the progress made thus far by NiRA, its ongoing activities, as well as our plans for 2015 and years ahead. I thank our BOT members for their steadfastness and resilient support to chart the way forward for NIRA.
“Our elders seized the opportunity to pray for the growth of NiRA and its progress. We do thank our Board of Trustees for their dedication and support.
