Ogun State Chapter of the All Progressive Congress (APC) has stated that all its party agents in the 1130 polling stations in the senatorial districts would be given mobile phones during the forthcoming general elections.

According to Mr Dapo Abiodun, the party’s senatorial candidate for Ogun East, said that the phones would be used by the agents to monitor the elections at their respective polling booths and inform the party secretariat about ongoing events.

Abiodun further explained that this is part of strategies being put in place by the party to check any form of electoral fraud that any party/group may try to execute during the elections.

He added that the party agents/coordinators would be given special telephone numbers through which they would communicate with the team in charge of monitoring and collation of election results.

“The special numbers will be given to them before the election day. Apart from relaying election results, they would give situation reports at the individual polling booths, so that if necessary, security agencies would be contacted on their emergency lines to check any electoral malpractices.

“We are doing this so that the people’s votes would not be undermined by those who want to force themselves on the people and undermine the electoral process.”

Abiodun also urged the people to vote for the APC at all levels of government, while assuring them that the election would be given “hi-tech attention to forestall any plan to rig” and that their votes would count.
