SystemSpecs Reinforces Indigenous Outlook, Ends Partnership with Infor

To consolidate its position as a fully indigenous brand, SystemSpecs, one of Africa’s leading financial technology firms, has announced the end of its role as Country Partner of the US-based enterprise software company, Infor.

SystemSpecs and Systems Union, erstwhile owners of SunSystems before its acquisition by Infor in 2006, had partnered to provide leading corporate organisations across Nigeria with software services that guarantee end-to-end accountability for success and improved returns on investment.

“Our business relationship with Infor was rewarding to both organisations and the clients we served,” said Emmanuel Uzugbo who headed SystemSpecs’ Infor implementation team in Nigeria.

“However, the decision to end our partnership was informed by our strategic direction as an organisation and to consolidate our position as a fully indigenous FinTech firm developing and implementing innovative home-grown solutions from Nigeria to Africa and the rest of the world.”

Until the partnership ended, the products of Infor which SystemSpecs sold and supported included Infor SunSystems, Infor Enterprise Asset Management (EAM), and Infor Performance Management (PM).

“Over the past 12 months, Infor and SystemSpecs [had] been reviewing their current partnership agreement and their go-forward strategies for Infor Products,” said Keith Saunders, Vice President, Infor Subscription Services.

“We are encouraged by the success of our homegrown brands, Humanmanager and Remita, and have chosen to devote our efforts to consolidate these,” Uzugbo added.

The development follows growing challenges in the foreign exchange market, the recent executive order issued by Vice President Yemi Osinbajo for the support of local content in the procurement of IT products and services, and in line with the position of the Institute of Software Practitioners of Nigeria (ISPON) to encourage the adoption of local software solutions.

Infor clients in Nigeria will now be managed through its partner in South Africa, which would “in no way affect the maintenance and support services” of Infor solutions and any future requirement that their clients might need.

The strategic partnership between both organisations started in 1992 when

SystemSpecs emerged as the country partner of Systems Union—as the firm was known before its acquisition by Infor—for the sales and support of its solutions in Nigeria.

SystemSpecs soon developed its own indigenous payroll and human resource management solution, HumanManager, which has continued to transform the Payroll and HR processes of several organisations for more than twenty years.

SystemSpecs is now renowned for the deployment and support of its flagship product Remita, the leading electronic payment solution which helps individuals, businesses and governments to make and receive payments easily.

Remita also powers the Federal Government of Nigeria’s Treasury Single Account and is the preferred payment platform of many businesses and individuals, especially with the recent release of its innovative Remita Mobile App.
