Teasy Mobile Money, has rolled out its mobile payment products in Zamfara State, having identified it as a state that has been significantly excluded by financial service provision but with which mobile money could help to transform its current economic situation by creating efficiencies in certain high potential areas like mining, agriculture and trade for the benefit of its citizens.
Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) licensed Teasy Mobile Money In its effort to ensure that all Nigerians have access to banking services to engender financial growth and empowerment among the citizens.
In a statement during the training of some of the branchless banking agents in the state, Mr. Agbolade Odunyemi , executive director of Teasy Mobile Money, stated “This is a major achievement not just to our organization, but to the financial industry as a whole. The supply and demand for financial services in the country has not been the best as supply has not met demand in some regions.”
He szaid that “With the branchless banking initiative, people in the state will have easier access to fiinancial service through the use of their mobile phones and branchless agents close to them across all local government areas of the state.
This ameliorates the issue of long commutes to a bank branch for financial transactions. We will be taking this initiative to every part of the country as we already have agent points in Lagos, Abuja, Adamawa and Kano. It is our belief that providing easy ways for people to do financial transactions will help improve the citizens’ businesses and the economy at large”. He added.
The Zamfara initiative is being done in collaboration with Asmali Investments, a Gusau based Agent Network Management firm; and other national partnerships that Teasy has garnered.
