Mr. Amos Emmanuel, Nigeria’s eminent national expert has disclosed that the submission deadline for the 2016 World Summit Awards Mobile has been extended till August 31.
Emmanuel stated this following an email correspondence from the WSA organizing committee in Austria which communicated the extension.
He said that by virtue of this, Nigerian innovators who were unable to meet up with the previously announced deadline can now have ample opportunity to do so before August end.
So far, the Nigerian representative for the World Summit Awards has received incredible products which cut across the various categories of the competition which have potential to compete favourably on the international stage.
Yet, more entries are welcome so as to create room for local competition which shall enable the Nigerian jury to select/submit only [but] the best submissions for the global contest.
The Eminent National Expert, who is also the CEO, Programos Software Group, Lagos noted that Nigeria is full of innovative tech gurus who are producing amazing contents all the time; therefore the need for them to recognized internationally. He noted that even though focus for this year’s World Summit Awards is on mobile products, web applications could still be submitted and will be considered for the maiden edition of the African Tech Awards.
This ceremony, scheduled [tentatively] for September 25th, will be a Nigerian pre-event to the WSA ceremony designed to celebrate Nigerian submitted before the main event. In the same vein, it will also be a forum for stakeholders in the Nigerian business sector to meet and interact with software developers in the country in a bid to look at ways of further integrating ICT with business activities as a means of ensuring productivity and efficiency.
The World Summit Awards is an initiative of the UN World Summit on the Information Society (UN-WSIS) with the mission of augmenting the UN Sustainable Development Goals through the recognition of genuine ICT innovations from across the world; innovations with potential to impact positively on societies.
Nigeria’s Amos Emmanuel represents the award-giving organization in Nigeria under Programos Foundation, the nonprofit arm of Programos Software Group which is a major provider of ICT services to capital market operators across Nigeria. Over the years since the WSA events began, Nigerian innovators have clinched major prizes while representing the country.
