Princewill Uzochukwu Nwosu, 39-year old, Lagos-based transport manager, who won the grand prize in the Glo-CAF Awards Predict and Win Big promo, has been presented a brand new 2015 Mercedes Benz G-Wagon by telecoms operator Globacom.

Mr. Ashok Israni, company’s regional chief marketing officer, formally presented the key to the exotic car to Mr. Nwosu at an event at Globacom’s Head Office, Mike Adenuga Towers (MAT) in Lagos recently.

It was attended by Naeto C and Helen Paul, Globacom brand ambassadors as well as journalists from major news media.

Nwosu won the high-end SUV, valued at N35 million at a draw conducted during the Glo-CAF awards ceremony which was held at the Eko Hotel & Suites in Lagos last Thursday.

Glo had in December launched the Glo-CAF Predict and Win Big promo as one of two promotions meant to bring excitement to the 2014 edition of the annual awards which is sponsored by Globacom.

The other promo, Reserve your seat at the Awards Event, afforded Glo subscribers who recharged with N5, 000 or more in December an opportunity to secure a seat as one of the company’s special guests at the event.

Many customers who purchased smart phones from any Gloworld Shop were also rewarded in that promo.  Over 500 winners attended the glamorous event.

However, it was the Predict and Win Big Promo that made Nwosu the owner of the imposing vehicle.

The promo required subscribers to correctly predict any of the winners in three Glo-CAF Awards categories: African Footballer of the year, African Female Player of the year and African Coach of the Year.

Prizes offered included the Mercedes Benz G Wagon, 10 return tickets to Old Trafford, home ground of Manchester United, and over 1,000 prizes of free airtime of N10, 000 each. Nwosu’s entry was picked in a lucky dip from a pool of other correct entries for the grand prize.

In an interview, Nwosu said he put in three entries and forgot all about the promotion until he was called from the venue of the live draw on January 8, 2015.

Speaking to reporters on his fortune, Nwosu declared, “I couldn’t believe my luck”. “I put in only three entries and I forgot all about it. To be frank with you, I wasn’t expecting to win anything, not to think of winning the grand prize of a Benz G- Wagon,” he said.

He noted that God had answered his prayers in an unprecedented way through Glo, noting that he had attended the cross-over service of his church in Lagos with two major requests on his mind on December 31, 2014: a replacement for his old rickety car and prosperity in the New Year, especially as things had been tough in the outgoing year.

Nwosu explained that he had first doubted the authenticity of the win and thought it was a joke when he was called and told about it by Basketmouth.

He said that Basketmouth later passed the phone to Mr. Amaju Pinnick,  NFF president,  who assured him it was not a joke.

He added that he had never won anything substantial in lotteries and promotions and that he took part in the Glo Promo, with the intention of winning some little cash, not the ultimate prize of a brand new high-end car like Benz G-Wagon.

Speaking before presenting the car to the winner, Mr. Israni, said, “With the presentation of this wonder on wheels to the winner, we have set another record in customer-reward scheme as this is the first time that this kind of prize has been offered in a promo in the country. We are indeed happy to fulfil our promise with the presentation of this unique ride. We are delighted to set this record and we congratulate the winner who Glo has no doubt put on a roller-coaster ride into the New Year.”

He encouraged subscribers who are not yet on Glo to join the network and begin to enjoy many other benefits which Glo provides on a daily basis.
