OMEN 17 Laptop

It offers gamers a cooler and more comfortable play experience when questing through the latest games, thanks to the addition of 24 more blades that are 17% thinner along with a 14% larger outlet open ratio, which contributes to a -5 °C reduction in temperature on the keyboard surface deck compared to the previous generation and keeps those gamer palms feeling cozy.

The Victus by HP was created to introduce gamers to an accessible, yet elevated, gaming experience built with OMEN’s DNA. As the younger sibling to the pro-ready OMEN brand, Victus aims to help anybody from any background outplay the ordinary in their quest to find out what type of gamer they are.

As the first entrant in the Victus line, the Victus by HP 16 comes with a distinctive lifestyle design featuring three striking colour options in mica silver, performance blue, and ceramic white, all with a standard backlit keyboard printed with the memorable font found on OMEN devices.

Victus by HP 16 is built sustainably with post-consumer recycled ocean bound plastic utilised in the construction of the speaker housings and bottom base of the chassis26 and outer boxes and fiber cushions that are 100% sustainably sourced and recyclable.

HP also unveiled the OMEN 25i Gaming Monitor which makes waves as the first ever OMEN gaming monitor to feature HP Eye Ease with Eyesafe® certification to reduce eye stain while playing.

OMEN 25i Gaming Monitor

OMEN Gaming Hub is evolving to address the needs of today’s gamer as a centralized solution for everything from optimising your gaming PC, customizing your hardware, and enhancing the gaming experience.

User research shows 91% of gamers prefer sharing streams to small parties of 1-20 people, with 61% stating that sharing live gameplay experiences is important, and 49% having a desire to share webcams32.

With this insight, OMEN Gaming Hub added OMEN OASIS, currently in beta, to provide gamers with quick and simple access to gameplay streaming with their friends.

OASIS on OMEN

OMEN OASIS is a downloadable and easy to use add-on to OMEN Gaming Hub designed to optimise sharing gameplay, game nights, or watch parties with your friends. It features up to a 16-person invite-only party, so inviting your friends is easy and intuitive, and everyone can join in on the fun. Friends can communicate with either high-quality voice or simple text chat. Now with OASIS, gamers can share their real-time gameplay in high definition and low latency.

The OMEN 16, OMEN 17 and Victus by HP 16 are expected to be available in June, while the OMEN 25i Gaming Monitor is expected to be available in July. The OMEN OASIS is currently available in Beta in the US, but will soo be available to the rest of the world.

Musk Makes Terrifying AI Prediction, Warns Parent about Dangers to Children

Elon Musk, founder, chairman, CEO, and CTO of SpaceX,

Musk, 52, spoke at a tech conference on Thursday about the future of AI, and cautioned the audience that it will take over most of their jobs.

Speaking remotely via webcam at VivaTech 2024 in Paris, the tech billionaire said ‘probably none of us will have a job’ when discussing how AI will develop and grow.

‘If you want to do a job that’s kinda like a hobby, you can do a job,’ Musk said. ‘But otherwise, AI and the robots will provide any goods and services that you want.’

Musk explained that, for this scenario to work, there has to be ‘universal high income’.

Universal high income (UHI) is a concept that envisions a society where AI reduces the cost of human labor – which would make basic needs affordable for everyone.

This concept is not to be confused with universal basic income, which refers to the government giving a certain amount of money to everyone no matter what their income is.

‘There would be no shortage of goods or services,’ Musk said, describing the future of AI.

Artificial intelligence has progressed rapidly over the past few years, leaving researchers and regulators scrambling to keep up.

However, researchers at MIT’s Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence Lab found in January that workplaces are adopting AI far slower than experts had predicted and feared.

Experts do not believe that AI can take over certain jobs that require high levels of emotional intelligence – such as mental health professionals, teachers and creatives, according to CNN.

Despite being sure of AI’s role in our future, Musk described the technology as his biggest fear and has been outspoken regarding his concerns.

The Space X CEO added at the conference that he plans to put people on Mars ‘probably within 10 years, maybe seven to eight’ – but said while his ‘biggest hope is Mars – my biggest fear is AI.’

Musk referenced the ‘Culture Book Series’ by Ian Banks, which is a utopian fictionalized look at a society run by advanced technology – which he says is the most realistic and ‘the best envisioning of a future AI.’

He questioned whether humans would be fulfilled with a life without jobs and careers.

‘The question will really be one of meaning – if the computer and robots can do everything better than you, does your life have meaning?’ he said. ‘I do think there’s perhaps still a role for humans in this – in that we may give AI meaning.’

Musk also issued a warning to parents about allowing their children to use technology.

The billionaire told parents to limit the amount of time their kids spend on social media because ‘they’re being programmed by a dopamine-maximizing AI.’

Mr. Adesola Akinsanya, the president of the Nigeria Internet Registration Association (NiRA), dropped the hint in his message to stakeholders who gathered [physically and virtually] at the association’s 16th Annual General Meeting (AGM), in Lagos, recently.

Giving account of the Executive Board of Directors (EBoD’s) stewardship in the past one year, Mr. Akinsanya said that as of February 2024, NiRA registrars have registered 215,441 .ng domain names.

He said that .ng as Nigeria’s Internet country code top-level domain (ccTLD) has become increasingly popular for use in websites and email addresses.

The number of .ng domain names reached 212,890 as disclosed in the NiRA Audited Account for the year ending December 31st 2023, which also shows an increase by 29,098 when compared to 183,792 recorded as at December 2022.

Mr. Akinsanya also applauded President Bola Tinubu’s administration on the Renewed Hope agenda aimed at leveraging the digital economy to better the worth of the citizens.

He also commended Dr. Bosun Tijani, the Minister of Communications and Digital Economy who has shown understanding of the need to intensify the adoption of Nigeria country code top-level domain (ccTLD), .ng within and outside the government circle, adding that NiRA as a multi-stakeholder-led organization has enjoyed support from the Kashifu Inuwa led National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA), especially in the crusade for both public and private organisations to switch over to .ng.

“The need for both the government and private institutions to switch-over to .ng brand is no longer negotiable in view of the significant role it plays in the country’s digital economy agenda”.

He said that NiRA supports the Minister in his efforts to ‘promote transparency in governance, protecting the Nigerian cyberspace, and promotion of the Digital Nigeria agenda’.

NiRA has been pushing for the government to accelerate the adoption of the second-level domain (. gov. ng, .edu.ng, .mil.ng) under the country code Top Level Domain (ccTLD.ng).

Speaking further, the NiRA chief said that a total of twenty-two new registrars were accredited last year, “showing the collective efforts of NiRA Accredited Registrars and their Resellers, which we duly acknowledge and appreciate.

“Our commitment to nurturing a robust partnership with our accredited registrars remains unwavering. The establishment of the Registrar’s Relationship Manager position exemplified this dedication, as it provides a specialized resource to address registrars’ needs and to cultivate stronger bonds among stakeholders.

“Together, we are poised to further elevate the .ng domain and advance our collective objective”, the NiRA President said.

Earlier in her goodwill message, Mrs. Ibukun Odusote, chairperson, Board of Trustees of NiRA, said: “Having gone through the documents associated with this meeting, I am filled with a profound sense of gratitude and appreciation for each one of you.

“Your dedication, commitment, and contributions to our organization have been instrumental in our continued success and growth.

“It is a time for us to come together as a community, to share ideas, insights, and experiences, and to reaffirm our shared vision and mission.
