This year’s Beacon of ICT (BoICT) distinguished lecture and awards series will be streamed live on the internet for worldwide viewers, allowing global audience to connect in real time with the largest event of Nigeria’s ICT industry.

The Beacon of ICT (BoICT) distinguished lecture and awards hold tomorrow Saturday, April 26, 2014, at the prestigious Eko Hotels and Suites, Lagos at 6.30pm.

According to Communication Week Media Limited, publishers of Nigeria CommunicationsWeek, viewers around the world can head to the live streaming page about 10 minutes before the event kicks off.

“There you will be presented with the option to “Watch Live Event” on our home page. Clicking this will open the live broadcast – it’s as simple as that” Ken Nwogbo, editor-in-chief/CEO, Nigeria CommunicationsWeek said.

For live streaming subscribers require Safari 4 or later on OS X v10.6 or later; Safari on iOS 4.2 or later.

Also at the event, Uche Orji, managing director/chief executive officer, Nigeria Sovereign Investment Authority (NSIA) will deliver the Beacon of ICT Distinguished Lecture, raising the stakes in the flagship event traditionally used to set agenda for the ICT industry.
 
According to Nwogbo, Orji will speak on the theme:  “Plugging the Funding Gap in Broadband Deployment”.

The Beacon of ICT Distinguished Lecture is designed to explore efforts to put Nigeria on the global information and communications technologies map.

At the event, His Excellency, Abdulfatah Ahmed, Executive Governor, Kwara State, will be conferred with the Best Governor of the Year for awesome developmental strides in Kwara State clearly visible in infrastructure renewal and expansion.

Nwogbo said that “From our findings, Kwara State is experiencing rapid economic transformation, much faster than any of her peer.  He has have created a new rich knowledge and industry-based economy and posterity will remain kind to him”

The BoICT awards, now in its fifth year, are merit-centric and are aimed at charting the way forward and rewarding best practices and recognize outstanding contributions.
