Phase3 Canvasses Tech Advancement for Benefit of Local Youths

Phase3 Telecom, West Africa’s largest independent fibre optic infrastructure, and telecommunications services provider; is intensifying efforts to engender entrepreneurial propensities in Nigerian youths through technology driven, and novel development programmes – this time in partnership with the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) Region 8 on its cross sectional African Student and Young Professional Congress (ASYPC) 2017.

Formed in 1963, and dubbed as the ‘voice’ for engineering, computing, and technology information around the globe – IEEE is the world’s largest professional, and technical organization that is dedicated to providing its members as well as affiliates with capacity building opportunities in technological innovation, and excellence for the benefit of humanity.

The international body is universally recognized for its contributions to improving global conditions through effectively deployed IT skills of more than 420,000 members in over 160 countries.  

According to Stanley Jegede, chief executive officer of Phase3, supporting IEEE Region 8 biennial Africa Student and Young Professional Congress 2017 effectively compliments one of Phase3 corporate social responsibility objectives “to build IT based partnerships that champion the socio-economic transformation of youths in local communities”.

Adding that proudly associating with ASYPC rides on its consistent focus on providing an inspiring hub for students, and young professional members to interact; develop soft skills; expand their knowledge of emerging technologies; and discuss unique ways to tackle individual organizational, and country challenges.

He affirmed that he his particularly thrilled at the huge potential of the congress being the first of its kind in Africa – to churn out more next generation innovators that will transform Africa, and global IT/engineering landscape from 2017 onwards.

More so, Engineer Abdullateef Aliyu, IEEE ASYPC Congress chair, said its 2017 edition is set to gather over 200 participants in a series of specialized workshops, presentations, and lectures that will stimulate discuss and solutions on tackling economic hardships; dearth of opportunities, and the rising lethargic disposition of students and young professionals.

Thus, equipping participants with the skill set required to contribute to the economic “development, progress and welfare of African countries by disseminating technological knowledge, and experience” through IEEE recognized disciplines.
