StarTimes Solidify Partnership with Signal Carrier on DSO Drive
StarTimes Nigeria, pay-TV entertainment company, is working to deliver the Digital Switch Over (DSO) drive of the Nigerian Government together with Integrated Television Services (ITS) – one of the country’s DSO signal carriers.
Mr Alex Jian, chief executive officer of StarTimes Nigeria, said that the pay-tv brand would continue providing support to the actualisation of the digital migration nationwide.
The CEO also noted that the pay-tv operator commits delivering high quality and entertainment content to every home in Nigeria irrespective of income levels.
Jian added that StarTimes offers a DTT antenna and decoder at the most affordable rate, with its lowest subscription allowing over 40 channels.
The channels range from blockbusters, 24-hour Nollywood channel, Wakaati TV, two foreign channels, cartoon channels, sports channels, and over 20 other local channels.
According to Prof. Armstrong Idachaba, director-general of the National Broadcasting Commission (NBC), the DSO being activated in Lagos means that there is a field of opportunities for Nigerians, and perhaps, the fastest way to bridge the digital divide. With the rollout, Lagos residents will have access to digital television services, not only for broadcasting but also with converged opportunities to telecom and other services.
Nigerian states that have migrated to digital television include the Federal Capital Territory, Plateau, Kaduna, Kwara Enugu and Osun states.
