Glo has launched a new package, called the Glo Pocket Internet, which will enable internet users to enjoy fast internet bundle plans straight on their mobile phones. The new product is an internet package which enables subscribers to access the internet on their mobile phones at an unprecedented speed.

According to a statement signed by Mr. Ashutosh Tiwary, General Manager, Prepaid Marketing, Globacom,  “…all Glo subscribers can now enjoy super fast and reliable connectivity to the internet and perform web-related tasks all day with their handheld devices. In addition to internet browsing, Facebook and Twitter, they can also download files and check emails among numerous other web-based activities”.

He explained that a major advantage of this package is that there is no need for computer access and other internet accompaniments such as modems and routers which may constitute extra cost and baggage.

“With this product, a busy executive or student can browse and download as much as he wants while on the go”, said Tiwary who added that Glo Pocket Internet comes with four different highly affordable tariff plans to suit varying budget profiles and usage patterns which give subscribers the freedom to determine how much to spend in line with their pockets and lifestyles.

The four plans are:  Instant Surf which comes with 10MB, One Week which comes with 50MB data cap, Always Micro which comes with 200MB bundle data cap and Always Macro which comes with 1G data cap.

He said that Glo Pocket Internet rides on  Glo’s newly deployed Device Management System (DMS) which has capacity to identify all handset types and is thus able to send settings appropriately. This enables customers to use internet on their mobile phones after receiving settings from the network.

The customers can receive these settings by texting “flat” to 1234. After this the DMS sends the settings which should be saved by the customers and now customers can start surfing the internet. Now customers can buy a plan of their choice by going to http://hsi.glo.com or text “1” to 127.

“Pocket Internet Plan is a huge phenomenon and is possible as a consequence of the commissioning of Glo 1 submarine cable which brings so much more in terms of bandwidth capacity at 640 gigabytes, scalable to 2.4 terabytes. Uptime reliability of Glo 1 is guaranteed at 99 percent”; Tiwary explained.

Since the launch of the Glo 3G plus platform, the company has been in the vanguard of introducing many innovative data services, one of which is the High Speed Internet to meet the increase in demand in the Nigerian Market. The subscriber can now do so much more with the Pocket internet lightning-fast speed while on the go.
