Kwesé iflix Unveils Plans for Original Programming in Kenya, Tanzania & Nigeria

Kwesé iflix, Africa’s game-changing digital entertainment platform on Thursday unveiled its exciting new localised content plans with huge African content tent poles focusing on a bold slate of original programming.

 

A statement released by the company, stated that 2018 marks the launch of original programming for Kwesé iflix, a slate comprising of African scripted drama, raw docu-series, plus pan-regional alternative news and live coverage. It’s a slate that encompasses many firsts for African entertainment.

 

The statement further stated that the announcement follows the premiere of its first Kwesé iflix Original series in Kenya, Nganya.

 

“From today, users across Africa can stream and download this action-packed, thirteen-part drama series exclusively on Kwesé iflix.

 

“Produced by leading Kenyan production house, Assignments Studios, Nganya is a gritty Swahili drama centred on the matatu business in Nairobi’s Eastlands.

 

“In a criminal underworld teeming with shady characters, our hapless matatu team soon find themselves tangled in a web of corruption and deceit.

 

“Customers can simply download the Kwesé iflix app from the Google Play or Apple App stores and enjoy four episodes each week for free.

 

“Kwesé iflix users with VIP passes can binge watch all 13 episodes immediately.

 

Following the launch of Nganya, Kwesé iflix has announced the December release of its highly anticipated original Tanzanian Telenovela – Nyavu, a captivating love story filled with drama, deceit and traditions.

 

In Nigeria, Kwesé iflix will be launching an innovative docu-series which will be released early next year.

 

Kwesé iflix has additionally greenlit a number of projects which underpin the company’s commitment to localisation and home grown talent, with the aim to create impactful, locally relevant content that has a familiar appeal, whilst lifting the bar on local free-to-air TV output.
